As the app is largely visual and there are no language barriers.
The inventor of Elements Of pattern, Robert Jones explains:
“It is an integral part of my artistic activity. My creation allows others to be creative.”
“I have one of the original Elements of Pattern and have observed the benefit and joy it gives to those who play with it. I recently watched a child with slight learning difficulties spend an hour creating his own personal design. He was absorbed and mesmerised for the time and when finished it was wonderful to see the joy and sense of achievement when he proudly showed his parents. What is Elements of Pattern all about and why it’s great to use!
Elements of Pattern Designer is a unique App for mobile devices that allows people of all ages to explore their creativity and personal sense of design.
It is available on the App Store for use on Apple devices and on the Play Store for Android devices.
It is easy to use as one only has to ‘drag and drop’ tiles onto the board and, once in position, rotate them – thereafter the combinations of designs and patterns emerge and ‘suggest’ how to proceed.
There is no right or wrong and each user will find that they can create a multitude of different designs.

How to Use Elements of Pattern?
- So simple and intuitive to use
- Your creation is your own
- Just drag a tile from the palette onto the grid
- Once there, tiles can be rotated with a double tap, repositioned or replaced
- As more tiles are added patterns emerge and designs suggest themselves
- Following your creative journey is intuitive and fun. Your completed design can be captured and shared
- Build your own unique picture
- Send it to your friends. Print it out
